CHP officers claim it wasn't Brit that convinced them to perform a field sobriety test after her accident -- it was the timing of Brit's wreck.
At first, it sounded a little suspicious that officers questioned Britney Spears' sobriety -- since the entire planet knows about her stint in rehab -- but we did a check and we're told it was absolutely S.O.P.
According to a CHP rep, there was "no odor, nor any kind of erratic behavior" that could have suggested Britney was under the influence during her three-car car fender bender just after 8 PM Saturday night. After an accident, officers "do a standard check on most drivers, especially during those hours."

Britney Spears is unhurt after being involved in a highway accident Saturday evening in the Los Angeles area. The pop star was driving her 2008 white Mercedes northbound on the 405 connector to the 101 freeway when the collision occurred at 8:18 p.m., the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
According to the accident report, "The collision occurred when the driver of the Mercedes, driving in the #3 lane, in stop and go traffic failed to observe the vehicle directly ahead of her come to a complete stop. She attempted to brake but failed to stop her vehicle prior to colliding into the rear of the Nissan [in front of her]."
The Nissan, as a result, collided into another car, which was not damaged. No one was injured. Later on Saturday night, Spears went out to dinner at Dominick's in West Hollywood with her mother Lynne – driven by bodyguards.

After months of keeping quiet regarding charges that he drugged Britney Spears and that he was the main cause of her increasingly erratic behavior, former friend Sam Lutfi issued a statement today through his spokesperson Michael Sands denying the allegations.
Britney's parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears filed a temporary restraining order against Lutfi on their daughter's behalf on February 1, 2008, and it was mama Lynne who swore in a declaration that Lutfi was drugging the pop princess.
"The allegations and the declaration in the temporary restraining order are untrue and have not been proven," said Lutfi's spokesman Michael Sands.The next hearing is scheduled for April 16, 2008.

Britney Spears may have had shopping for little sister Jamie Lynn on the top of her agenda while visiting designer Christian Audigier at the Ed Hardy offices yesterday, but there was definitely business at hand. “She wants to work on a clothing line with Christian,” says Ed Hardy representative Nicole Irving, who adds, “it was a closed door meeting, but we will say that they are planning to do a children’s clothing line.” Spears sought out the former Von Dutch designer specifically to discuss the project, seeking his “flair on the line.” Irving explains, “I know the one thing she stressed, she loves and really respects Christian as a designer.” As for the pop star, who spent the morning with her sons Jayden and Preston, Irving describes her as “just really warm and in good spirits.”

With her mother in tow, Britney Spears stopped by the corporate offices of Hollywood clothing store Ed Hardy on Thursday to buy birthday presents for sister Jamie Lynn, who turns 17 on Friday.
The singer was "in good spirits" according to Nicole Irving, a representative for the store. Spears stopped in the afternoon to visit designer Christian Audigier and browse the new spring collection. "Christian and she were laughing as she tried on Ed Hardy sunglasses and checked out the bathing suits," says the rep.
For her sister (and mom-to-be), Britney, donning a pink Ed Hardy shirt, picked out a large selection of Christian Audigier handbags, scarves, and Crystal Rock T-shirts. She also snagged items for her father and brother.
Earlier Thursday, Spears, 26, spent the morning visiting sons Preston and Jayden at her Studio City house.

Britney Spears may reprise her successful cameo role as a dippy but adorable receptionist in CBS’s How I Met Your Mother, TVGuide.com reports.
Spears’s first guest appearance on March 25 drew warm reviews from critics and fans — and gave the comedy its highest ratings ever.
For Spears personally, the triumph was a comeback of sorts following herrecent months of turmoil, during which she was hospitalized and father, Jamie, was named co-conservator of her affairs.
According to a show source at the time, Spears “had a lot of fun doing[Mother] and she even mentioned extending her character. She got along really well with everyone.”
Indeed, her co-star Josh Radnor told PEOPLE earlier: “It pains me to report that on the first day of the shoot, Britney knew her lines better than I knew mine. She’s been great to work with.”
A rep for CBS had no comment.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) have offered Brit a part-time gig... as a receptionist. The job description includes answering phones, faxing, printing, and whatever else real secretaries do with their time. No joke, though they're only asking for one hour of her time.
After catching Miss B's awesome appearance as a receptionist on "HIMYM," PETA reached out with a letter stating, "We might have criticized you in the past for contributing to the dog overpopulation crisis and wearing real fur, but perhaps now that your own crisis has abated, a new day calls for a new relationship, a new outlook, and a new understanding."
In other words, "Now that you're popular in a positive way again, we'd like a piece of the action."
Brit might as well say "yes" -- they're offering a $1000 donation to a children's charity of her choice.
In other news, Page Six reports that Brit might show her mug next on "30 Rock."

As Britney Spears continues to strive to get her personal and professional lives back in order, OK! has learned she's turned to a familiar face for help — former manager Larry Rudolph.
Though the pair had parted company a year ago, sources confirm exclusively to OK! that the "Toxic" songstress has once again been taken under Larry's wing.
Larry and Brit share a long and bumpy history. He was the visionary who discovered the young star Britney and shepherded her career from teen pop tart to international superstar. And when her life began to spiral dangerously out of control in the weeks and months following her Oct. 2006 divorce from Kevin Federline, it was Larry who Britney's parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, turned to for help getting her into rehab.
After her brief stint at the Promises clinic in Malibu, Brit went public with her ill-feelings toward Larry, chastising him on camera in a bizarre, disjointed rant, for what she viewed as siding with her folks against her.
However, Brit's dad has always been open about his positive feelings toward Larry, even publicly thanking Larry for his efforts. And now Jamie, who has continued to think the world of Larry both as a manager and as a friend who has Britney's best interests at heart, has finally convinced Britney to let him take over the reins of her recently resurgent career.

Britney Spears is reuniting with business manager Larry Rudolph, E! News reports. Spears and Rudolph worked together for many years off-and-on, and he is credited with shaping her highly successful early career.
They most recently parted ways last year after Spears blamed him, in part, for encouraging her to enter Promises rehab center in Malibu. Of reports that they have decided to pair up again, a source tells E!: "It's true. They are working together."At the time when Spears parted ways with Rudolph last year, her father, Jamie, sent an email to the New York Post supporting Rudolph despite his daughter's decision to sever their relationship.
"When Larry Rudolph talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done," Jamie wrote. "She was out of control. Larry was the one chosen by the team to roll up his sleeves and deliver the message, to help save her life." Jamie Spears is currently a co-conservator over his daughter's affairs.
